Do You Twitter? Wynton and Gordon Do

Ever heard of Twitter?

It is becoming really popular right now.

Basically Twitter is a simple way to let people know what you are doing, and to stay in touch with other people that share your particular interests in real time.

At first, I didn’t really “get it”, but now after starting to use it a bit, I think its pretty cool.

Yesterday I started “following” Gordon Goodwin on Twitter, and now I get real time updates on stuff he and his band are doing.

I also started following Wynton Marsalis too. He “tweets” about his upcoming gigs and what not. Stuff he is doing. Whatever those guys tweet about, I get notified as to what they are up to.

The thing about Twitter is that you can only leave 144 character “tweets” (messages) so all messages are kept really concise and short.

Its a little like instant messaging, but when you send out a message it goes out immediately to all the people that are following you.

You can “follow” as many people as you want and people can follow you. You can also “reply” to a tweet if you want, just like instant messaging.

Anyway, I set up Twitter for pdfjazzmusic.com so I could let whoever was interested know what charts I’m working on, or what I’m adding to the website, etc.

If you want to check this whole thing out go to http://www.twitter.com and register yourself.

Then just start following people, and people will find you and start following you.

My name on twitter is: pdfjazzmusic so you can follow me if you so desire.

So whatever your interests, get on twitter and you’d be amazed how quickly you can stay informed in your field.

And you can have multiple Twitter accounts so if you want to just have a “music” account for that part of your life, you can do that.

After seeing the potential and starting to follow guys like Wynton, I can see this is going to be really big. Remember when no one had ever heard of YouTube?

Mark my words…Google will want to purchase Twitter at some point in the future. Next year you will see a huge number of people start Twittering.

So go ahead and get started at Twitter.com, then follow me and I can then follow you.

To make it really easy, there is a cool free desktop app that makes it really easy to twitter. Get Twhril here.

Its super easy and sits right on your computer desktop. Get with the program and start twittering today!
