But, Then AgainBut, Then Again is a straight-ahead swing tune which captures the spirit of Count Basie. At a medium tempo, this is great for dancing and for teaching the swing concept. Three solos with the lead trombone, lead tenor, and piano (opt. guitar) are complimented with an intermittent brass quartet soli followed by a full ensemble shout chorus. After a recap, the chart ends with a nod to Li’l Darlin’ as it slows to a beautiful full-ensemble close. Lead and 2nd trumpet play to high D. Grade 3.5. Recorded by the Madison Jazz Orchestra, Brian Whitty, director, Kelly Beaman, trombone, Bill Grahn, tenor sax, Vince Jesse, guitar. PRICE $19.95 |
