Ron Dekker was a member of the United States Air Force Band, Washington, D.C. prior to pursuing his B.S. in Music Education at the Pennsylvania State University. Subsequently he earned the M.M.Ed. from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has taught band, orchestra and chorus from the elementary through collegiate levels as well as theory and harmony at the secondary and collegiate levels (Mt. Aloysius College, Juniata College and The Pennsylvania State University).
For twelve years Dekker was conductor/arranger for the Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant Orchestra. His arrangements have been performed on national television as part of the talent presentation for the Miss America Pageant. He has written for a wide variety of small ensembles as well as marching band, concert band, orchestra, chorus and jazz band. Dekker teaches jazz history and music technology at Penn State-Altoona.
